The Potty Mouths of Christopher Hitchens and Perez Hilton
Like a televangelist hungry for money, Christopher Hitchens was doing publicity interviews for his hyperbolic book, "God Is Not Great...How Religion Poisons EVERYTHING."
He dropped the F-bomb on me making me grateful that my mother washed my mouth out with soap (Ivory Liquid specifically) for the same offence.
We then posted a poll question inviting people to critique how I did. Some atheist websites discovered the link, and the next thing you know, 10,000 atheists voted "Terrible."
Imagine this: an atheist decides to repent and trust the Flying Spaghetti Monster. A Christian informs you about this individual, and you can visit his website (ihavelostmymind.com) and take a poll answering the question, "Does the Flying Spaghetti Monster exist?"
Would you even bother to click the button?
I doubt it.
But 10,000 atheists took the time to find our site (presumably having listened to the 15 minute interview) and vote.
Furthermore, if you were to read any of the comments posted on YouTube video of the Hitchens interview (not recommended), you would find many of the atheists used words that are usually reserved for the mouths of wounded pirates.
Ditto Perez Hilton. He used some very special language to describe Miss California.
I suggest there are two reasons the heathens are raging:
1. Out of the mouth the heart speaks. (Matt.12:34)
2. Romans 1 tells us that every person has a knowledge (not a saving knowledge though) of the true God. Try as they might, they cannot suppress that truth enough to calm their consciences.
The conscience of the practicing homosexual rages inside him. And even if the entire world accepts, endorses and then praises their lifestyle, they will not be satisfied.
The issue for the homosexual is not acceptance, it is their conscience. In a desperate effort to calm their heads, they strive to remove one of God's common graces: social norms that cause shame.
While they may succeed in removing the stigma of shame, their consciences will not stop screaming at them.
The same is true for the atheist. If George Barna concluded that every person on the planet denies the existence of God, Christopher Hitchens will not be happy. The atheist, like the homosexual, KNOWS they are living in rebellion to the true and living God.
Newsweek announced that Christianity is on the wane (sorta true), and the Hawkeye State now endorses gay marriage. We would do well to ask the question, "How should we then live?"
Is it time for an e-mail campaign? Should we labor to elect conservatives? Or should we do what Jesus commanded? "Go and make disciples."
